5 Exciting Vacations Every Dog Lover Must Go On

Seriously, what did the Homo Sapiens do right to deserve the four-legged angels? Whatever it was, I am glad we have them by our side. If you are dog lover like me, you'd totally love these 5 vacation ideas; from a retriever festival hosting hundreds of Golden Retrievers to dog surfing competition, these vacations will steal your heart away!

1. Annual Golden Retriever Festival, Scotland

One of the friendliest dog breeds (and my favourite), Golden Retrievers make us go 'aww' even when they aren't doing anything. This Scottish festival hosts hundreds of Golden Retrievers and their humans and lasts for three days at the Guisachan House. This is the same place where this breed was born, back in 1868, BTW. The festival is attended by pairs coming from different parts of the globe such as Canada and Japan. As a part of the celebration there are many contests and games organised, making it more fun.

2. Surf City Surf Dog, USA

Dogs and beaches? What a combination I say! Dogs and surfing? Am I going cray?! YES! Held at Huntington Dog Beach in USA, this event will make leave you enthralled. The surfing competition starts at 8:30 am and concludes at 2:30 pm. This isn't just about surfing, there are other highlights such as food trucks, canine play zones and vendor booth to keep you entertained in this annual event.

3. Good Dog! International Film Festival, Australia

As the name suggests this film festival celebrates movies that feature dogs by screening them. Dogs and their humans spend a jolly good time watching the flicks or enjoying other highlights in the venue, Sydney Harbour. You can even leave your dog home and attend, if you feel he/she won't be comfortable around a huge gathering. There are other activities besides screening, such as writing competition featuring dogs, film competition and story jam.

4. Kukur Tihar, Nepal

Celebrated during the period of Diwali festival in Autumn, Kukur Tihar holds special religious significance for Hindus in Nepal. The role of canines through history is celebrated by the people as they offer garlands and apply tikka on the foreheads of the dogs, whether pet or stray. This gesture is a mark of respect and prayers in Hinduism. An array of food is offered to the dogs, according to the willingness of an individual. Dogs are looked upon as friends, guardians and companions in Nepali culture.

5. Museum of the Dog, USA

Exhibiting the one of the largest art collections dedicated to dogs, The American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog has to be in the list. Right from the paintings to sculptures, the museum appreciates man's best friend in every possible way. You can even host a special event in this museum; a wedding, birthday party and what not!
