Places To Visit In Kuala Lumpur: The Ones I Loved!

Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia has got it all. This global city leaves its marks when it comes to world class infrastructure, while also tightening its grip on age-old heritage and even biodiversity.

When you're flying to Malaysia, there are fair chances you wouldn't want to miss this lovely city. So, I decided to jot down my most favorite places to visit in Kuala Lumpur, which I absolutely loved. Besides mere mentioning, you can find several important tips and tourist information; such as entry fee, timings, and highlights.

Let's get started now!

1. The Petronas Tower

A shot the Petronas Tower

The Twin Towers of Kuala Lumpur stand tall and strong as an icon of Malaysia Tourism. These 88-storey chrome and steel towers are 451.9 metres, and today is the tallest twin towers in the world. Both the towers are joined via double decked Sky Bridge (at 41st and 42nd floor).

Since this is among the topmost Kuala Lumpur attractions, people from acros the globe come over for a visit. Some strike pose with the towers in the backdrop, some head off to the observation deck at the 86th floor, while some do both of that! (Yup, me! ;) )

Timing: There are different slots for the KLCC Tower tour (takes place in every 15 min duration); starting from 9.00 am to 9.00 pm (Last entry at 8.30 pm).

Operational days: Open - Tuesdays to Sundays | Closed every Monday, Hari Raya Aidilfitri & Aidiladha | Also closed on Fridays between 1.00 pm to 2.30 pm

Entry fee: You can enter the KLCC Suria Mall for free. But, to enter the observation deck you will have to pay charges. 85 MYR per head for adults, and 35 MYR for children below 12 years. Infants are allowed free entry.

Where to buy tickets for Petronas Tower: You can get the tickets from concourse level of Suria KLCC Mall, or buy it online from here

I took the last slot (8:30 pm), and I would agree it was worth every penny I spent. Watching the city glitter from the top is something I will always cherish!

Reviews 2. Aquaria KLCC

Are you as equally terrified and fantasized with the marine life?! Then Aquaria KLCC has to be the first thing to consider if you're wondering 'what to see in Kuala Lumpur?' Located at a walking distance from the Petronas, the Aquaria spans over an area of 60,000 square foot space.

Once you're inside you can easily spend 1-3 hours inside, glancing at the incredible life that exist around and in the sea. The best part is the The Glass Tunnel - It's a jaw-dropping experience to watch huge manta rays, turtles, sharks and schools of fishes pass through and above you.

Highlights: Piranha Tank, The Tunnel, Clownfish, Sea Turtle, Jelly Fish, Sea Horse, and the list goes on.

Timings: 10.00 am to 8.00 pm everyday

Entry fee: 69 MYR per head for adults, and 59 MYR for children between 3 and 12 years. For senior citizens, the entry fee for Aquaria is 49 MYR.

Where to buy tickets for Aquaria KLCC: You can either buy the ticket from the counter, or from the official website of KLCC Aquaria.

3. China Town

Guan Di Temple in China Town Kuala Lumpur

As the name itself sounds, China Town will have you believe you're somewhere in the streets of China. This place is where your love for Chinese food finds its resort. Yes! Freshly cooked, authentic Chinese food cooked by Chinese chefs await you here.

If you're up for feasting mouth-watering Hokkien Mee, Cantonese style Chee Cheong Fun, Roasted Duck, and Wantan Mee then, there exists no question as 'Where to go in Kuala Lumpur?'

Highlights: This is a bustling locality with some of the best hostels and hotels in Kuala Lumpur, amazing shopping places like Petaling street, and Central Market, (I will soon be posting a dedicated blog on shopping in KL) and Kuala Lumpur's tourist attractions like Sri Maha Mariamman Temple and Sin Sze Si Ya Temple.

4. KLCC Bird Park

Could there be a better place for a bird-lover in KL than the KLCC Bird Park? The answer has to be a no! This is among the major places to see in Kuala Lumpur, as you get to see an extensive variety of bird life as you walk through 20.9-acre huge public aviary. Hornbills, owls, eagles, ostriches and a lot many bird species are exhibited in this park that has been built to imitate the natural surroundings of these birds.

Bonus tip: If you time it right, you can get to see various bird shows and bird feeding. Here's a chart to let you know all that goes on through the day

daily schedule of KLCC Bird Park

Highlights: Red-billed Toucan, Flamingos, Struthio, Ostrich, Green Turaco are just few of many birds that call this place home.

Timing: 9.00 am to 6.00 pm everyday (including public holidays)

Entry fee: 67 MYR per head for adults, and 45 MYR for children.

Where to buy tickets for KLCC Bird Park: You can buy the tickets from the counter.

5. Sultan Abdul Samad Building

Sultan Abdul Samad Building

Sultan Abdul Samad Building sparks a magnificent contrast with the high-rising modern infrastructure of the city. This is among the major tourist places in Kuala Lumpur because of all its glory! This Moorish-style structure dates back to the late-nineteenth century, and is located on the east of Merdeka Square. Its ornate arches, shiny copper cupolas, and curved colonnades will have your jaws dropped for quite a while.

Luckily, when I went here the celebrations of Hari Raya were in full bloom. There were musical performance, prayers, and food right in the streets.

Highlights: There are many other famous places to visit in Kuala Lumpur located in close proximity to the building, namely - City Gallery, Cathedral of Saint Mary The Virgin, and St Mary's Cathedral among others.

So, these were my absolute favorite places to visit in Kuala Lumpur! In case you need to ask any questions regarding my trip to Kuala Lumpur, feel free to drop a comment.
